PAWTUCKET - Conductor Keith Lockhart and the Boston Pops, along with special guest singer/songwriter Kenny Loggins, will perform at McCoy Stadium on Sept. 4. The 7:30 p.m. performance by Lockhart and the orchestra will continue the celebration of the 125th anniversary season of the Pops.
Loggins, a singer-songwriter whose hit songs include "Footloose," "I'm Alright," and "This Is It," will join Lockhart at McCoy for his only New England area performance of the year.
This Boston Pops/Loggins concert is the marquee event of the Pawtucket Arts Festival, scheduled to run from Aug. 27 to Sept. 26 in the city.
Though members of the Boston Pops have been featured in performances at many of the country's leading sporting events, including those of the Red Sox, Patriots, and Celtics, the McCoy Stadium concert will mark the first time the full orchestra complement has ever performed in a baseball stadium and the first time they have performed an outdoor concert in the Providence area, according to promoters.
Portions of the proceeds from tickets sales for this Boston Pops/ESI Concerts Inc. production will benefit Hasbro's Children's Hospital.
Tickets for this performance are on sale now at the PawSox box office, by phone at 724-7300, or by visiting www.pawsox.com.
